Quote of the Day

In case you didn't noticed, we took the week off. Real world duties, a slow news week, and the need to recharge batteries before football season starts all played factors. We'll be starting up again full bore come Monday. In the meantime, you can scratch your head pondering this quote from Rick Pitino from a nice ESPN article today about college coaches and their recollections of their greatest recruiting hits and misses. There's even a Keith LeGree reference buried in there. But this Pitino quote left me puzzled, much like the man himself...
The best discovery: Nazr Mohammed. "He was probably the worst high school player I've ever seen. I remember I went to his high school and his coach said, 'Rick Pitino, what are you doing in my gym? Antoine Walker isn't walking through that door.
Note, this was long before Pitino's misbegotten Celtic venture. So either Pitino is saying that it was Nazr Mohammed's high school coach that was the original inspiration for his famous phrase, or he is mistakenly remembering a moment he claims to recall vividly, or he is just so used to bullshitting everyone that little details like what happened when in space and time don't matter anymore, or he's just making a not-so-funny joke and I'm reading too much into it.

The real question is which of these is worst. Ponder. Ruminate. See you Monday.
