On whether he remembered the '74-'75 Final Four team: "Louisville always stuck out for a lot of New Yorkers as a team we rooted for. I think primarily because [for] the city people, they [Louisville] had a lot of African Americans playing when the South did not. And we rooted hard for Louisville. So we did know that at the time.
Louisville has always been admired not only for the way they played, but people look at the tradition of Louisville. They had great, great basketball players who always excited everybody. In each era, they excited, they had great basketball players. They had a Camdem connection, then they had a Mount Vernon connection, then they had a local connection... which I wish would come back." [cue laughter]
On Ali, who was introduced during the game: "Our players, they didn't see Ali fight, but they know him. He's the most recognizable athlete in the world. We're real proud of him, that he's from Louisville, obviously, and that he came back to Louisville. For the guys, it's great. For a guy like Rakeem Buckles, he's out there cheering, and he's looking to go over and see if he can meet him, and we had a game to play! But it's great, it's great for Louisville, it's great that Muhammad's back, and we were very excited to see him."
How 'bout those Samardo jams, Mr. Black?? I'm lovin' that two-handed, knees up finish. You snowed in up there, Mr. Black, in your neck of the woods, nep of the nape?
Samardo is playing awesome, Mr. Red. Over these last eight games, I think he'll make a push for first or second team all-conference. And he's just a sophomore. What a transformation from season's beginning.
No snow, just dusting. Laughing at the rest of the country, as these parts are prone to do...

Here are a few choice quotes:
On number of wins needed to make the tournament: "We said 6 out of 9, now it's 5 out of 8. With each victory, it becomes more realistic."
On this game being a "trap" game: "we talked about it all week (the coaches), we've had some wars that have taken a lot out of us."
